Dr. Misty blowers
Dr. Misty Blowers is the lead for in-house research in cyber operations at the US Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate. She has managed over $95 million in government contracts. Blowers obtained her PhD from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Applied Science and Engineering and a MS in Computer Science from Syracuse University. Prior to working for the United States Air Force, she gained extensive industrial experience as a chemical process engineer for a world leading equipment supplier. She designed new manufacturing systems to achieve steady-state production of uniform product quality with the lowest possible consumption of chemicals while optimizing efficiency. Dr. Blowers combines this hands-on practical knowledge with extensive research experience in the fields of cyber security, machine learning, big data analytics, total systems engineering, modeling, and simulation. She has authored over 50 publications and provided plenary talks on behavior analysis of manufacturing processes and the future of cyber physical systems. Her patented methods have led to direct government technology transfers to the commercial sector resulting in two local start-up companies and license agreements with defense contractors who provide security for automotive and manufacturing systems. Dr. Blowers was named the 2014 Technologist of the Year by the Technical Association of Central New York. Her recent book, Evolutions of Cyber Technologies and Operations to 2035, was inspired by her continued influence in senior level strategic planning exercises and war-games.
